The conference has been organized as part of the profPM (professional Project Management) project, a competitive research project, co-funded by the Greek General Secretariat for Research and Technology (from "Competitiveness" funds, Measure 8.3, Action 8.3.6) (80%) and by the private sector (20%). Its budget totals €200.000, while its duration is 14 months (July 2007 - September 2008).  The objective of profPM is the formation and operation of a "Human Network for Academic and Technological Education/Training" on project management. The project aims to establish links between academic institutions and businesses on issues related to project management professional certification according to international standards.  The main activities of the project include: Professional business training on project management certification schemes. Enlightenment on professional skills certification, project management and human resources management according to international standards. A training visit to the UK (Loughborough University of Technology). The MASTIC-PRODUCERS UNION (MPU) on Chios Island is rural cooperative that was founded in 1938 and it constitutes the institution of exclusive management of natural gum in Greece and abroad. It is based on Chios Island and has more than 5,000 participant-members. Its main activities include organization and management of rural production, the support of scientific research of mastic trees, the cleaning and packing of natural gum and the production and marketing of products of gum.
